To Our Valued Guests

Fihalhohi Island Resort's number one priority is the well-being and safety of our guests and team members. In response to the COVID-19 pandemic, the resort has identified and implemented rigorous procedures and routines in place at all our property regarding enhanced cleaning, physical distancing to all our outlets.

All tourist arrivals to the Maldives will be provided with a 30-day validity visa on arrival. As part of the visa requirement, you must present the following documents:

  • All arriving and departing passengers via airports and seaports are required to complete the Traveler Health Declaration form within 48 hours to the flight time. (https://travel.immigration.gov.mv/.
  • PCR results are not mandatory during arrival and departure. This applies to unvaccinated travelers as well. However check for your country/ airline guideline on PCR results before your departure.
  • Travel-related quarantine is not required by any traveler. However, except the arriving tourists and Maldivians (residing in the Maldives) to the Maldives, other travelers are advised to do a PCR test between the 3rd and 5th day of arrival.

  • Our Airport Representative will assist with guests’ luggage, ensuring minimal contact.
  • Guests will be escorted to the boat as soon as the above processes are completed.
  • Personal disinfection procedures and temperature checks will be done at the beginning and end of shift by our Airport Representative and records kept for reference.
  • All departure guests are required to fill in an exit questionnaire prior to departure from the Resort.
  • Staff handing guests cards and money will wear gloves and masks and gloves will be disposed after the transaction and check-out is completed.
  • Guests in isolation will be allowed to check out as per Maldives Health Protection Agency guidelines and their instructions.

Guests will be allowed to do a split stay between our Resort and any other Maldives resort, Guest House or Safari Boat without any PCR test if the guest is fully vaccinated.

Non-vaccinated guests will require a negative PCR test to visit our Resorts if travelling from any other Resort, Safari boat or guesthouses.

Should guests be scheduled to travel to Fihalhohi Island Resort from a resort, Safari boat or guesthouses which is under monitoring or with any positive cases, Fihalhohi Island Resort will not be able to accept these guests without a negative PCR test.

  • Should you be required to present a PCR test result as part of your international flight departure requirements, our resort can facilitate this process. We have collaborated with hospital in Male city to provide this service at US$ 70 per person per test. An advance notice of 72 hours prior to departure date is required. Testing will be done in the Resort clinic and samples will be sent immediately to the laboratory for analysis. The test results will be provided within 12/24 hours and sent by email.

  • Touchless hand sanitizer dispenser will be provided in Public area places
  • Reduced and spaced out seating on all our transfer and excursion boats.
  • Signage communicating health & safety protocols in public spaces.
  • Increased frequency of cleaning
  • Social distancing guidelines shall be followed in all such common areas.

  • Our buffet variety and quality has been further enhanced to facilitate all required post Covid-19 requirements. You will be able exploring everything without limitations and our staff will assist you around the service lines.
  • Restaurants, will be disinfected as per Maldives Health Protection Agency guidelines on such eatery establishments and seating layout will be modified to allow minimum of 1 (one) meter between tables.
  • Prior reservation will be taken for all meals and records maintained.
  • Waiters serving the meals will be wearing appropriate PPE and will follow proper social distancing etiquette where applicable.
  • AII frequent touchpoints, tables and chairs will be disinfected after each seating at a table.
  • Touchless hand sanitizer dispenser will be provided at the entrance to the Restaurant.
  • AII Restaurant staff will check their temperature before beginning shift and records will be maintained.
  • Seating areas rearranged to allow physical distancing.
  • Signage communicating health & safety protocols in public spaces.

  • The Resort Doctor will be always on site, standby and on call.
  • Fully equipped with the current regulations set by Maldives Health Protection Agency.
  • Adequate stock of medically certified PPE, which includes Masks, Gloves, Face Shields, Gowns, Caps, and boot covers, will be available at clinic.
  • The Resort Doctor in full PPE will visit guests and staff showing symptoms in their room.
  • The Resort Doctor will have constant contact with such guests and provide periodical counselling where necessary.
  • Clinic will maintain a record of all consultations, especially any patients showing symptomsimilar to Influenza or COVID-19.

  • Isolation at the Resort for 7 (seven) days from the date of sample collection is mandatory for anyone testing positive for COVID-19 and asymptomatic.However, those who exhibit covid symptoms at the end of the isolation period specified are required to continue their isolation until 24 hours after symptoms have cleared. The above shall be applicable even if the individual(s) have not completed the prescribed dose(s) of a Covid-19 vaccine.
  • The Resort Doctor or Nurse will provide primary care whilst guests are in isolation on the Resort, should the symptoms require clinical care, and this will be arranged.Any guest who tests positive will have to be quarantined in the resort. All additional costs such as doctor’s fees, Room accommodation, food and beverage, and subsequent PCR testing will have to be shouldered by the guest.

Quarantine duration for those identified as direct contacts

2.1 Close contacts who have completed the prescribed dose(s) of a Covid-19 vaccine and a BOOSTER dose;

  • a) Individual(s) who have been identified as a direct contact of a positive case but asymptomatic, are NOT required to observe a quarantine period. However, if symptomatic the individual shall undertake a PCR test or a Rapid Antigen Test for Covid -19 and can ONLY be released upon receiving a negative test result.
  • b) Regardless of the ease mentioned in (a), ALL individual(s) who are identified as a direct contact of a positive case are required to undertake an additional PCR test after 05 (five) days from the date of last contact with the said positive case.
  • c) The ease mentioned in (a) and (b) is strictly applicable ONLY to those direct contacts who are quarantined separately from the positive case.

The above mentioned in 2.1 can ONLY be exercised if the following conditions are met:

1- Vaccine administered by the individual(s) is approved by the Maldives Food & Drug Authority or by the World Health Organization (WHO) Emergency Use Listing (EUL) and at least 14 (fourteen) days have passed and 06 (six) months have not exceeded after the administration of the prescribed doses.

2- If 06 (six) months have passed since completion of the prescribed doses, a BOOSTER dose for covid-19 must also be completed.

2.2 Close contacts who do not qualify under 2.1

2.2.1 All close contacts who are identified as a direct contact of a positive case, who have completed the prescribed dose(s) of a Covid-19 vaccine and 06 (six) months have exceeded after the administration of the prescribed doses but had not been administered a BOOSTER dose; will have to undergo quarantine for 10 (ten) days from the date of sample collection and can be released without a PCR test if the individual(s) do not exhibit any symptoms of Covid-19 at the end of the 10-day period.

However, the specified quarantine period (10 days) will come to an end upon submission of a negative PCR test done at the end of FIFTH DAY of quarantine from the date the individual(s) were identified as a direct contact and quarantined. The ease* mentioned is strictly applicable for those direct contacts who are quarantined separately.

2.2.2 If child(ren) under 12 years of age or an individual who is not eligible for vaccination of a Covid-19 vaccine are placed under quarantine with a vaccinated individual who may avail the ease mentioned in 2.2.1, then they may requested to be released from quarantine after the fifth day with a special permission from the Maldives Health Protection Agency (HPA). Upon the request by the individual, the resort will send a special request to HPA and child(ren)/individual will be released upon receiving approval from HPA.

3. All close contacts who are identified as a direct contact of a positive case and who have not completed the prescribed dose(s) of a Covid-19 vaccine shall complete 14 (fourteen) days of quarantine followed by a negative PCR test result at the end of this quarantine period.

The above information per the guidelines of the Health Protection Agency (HPA) of Maldives and is subject to changes without prior notice. Individuals undergoing quarantine under 1 and 2 must remain in quarantine until such time the negative test results is received or special permission is provided by HPA.

Please note there will be expenses to be paid for any period in isolation. Please check with your insurance company if you are covered.

  • Wekindly recommended purchasing travel insurance covering refunds of cancellation, deposit, etc. .Also  recommended   for all guests arriving to Fihalhohi to have  Insurance that covers  for specific expenses  may occur due to a positive diagnosis of Covid-19 or following you being placed in mandatory quarantine after being in contact with a person infected with COVID-19, while on holiday .
